Hello, and welcome to the Harcourts Move update for February 2023!
And just like that, we’re already well into the new year and memories of a summer break are fading. I hope you and your family were able to spend some quality time together.
2023 has already seen a challenge to the property market with the Reserve Bank confirming that Australians can expect to see at least two more rate rises, but appears to favour a slow and steady approach over any more supersized hikes in order to curb inflation rates. With the prediction of inflation moving to 5 per cent at the end of the year, down from the existing rate of 6.7 per cent, it will be interesting to see where the property market will move in the next 12 months.
These figures from the Reserve Bank will mean different things to different people – especially those with investment properties so it’s important to make sure you’re getting the most out of your investment and the right advice from your financial adviser. If you need any financial advice at all, I thoroughly recommend getting in touch with our award-winning finance partner Capital for Castles. With over 100 5-star Google reviews, we’re very proud to partner with them.
Health-check your landlord insurance
We have had a few instances of late where rental providers haven’t had the right level of insurance.
Use the start of the year as an opportunity to review your cover and make sure your insurance is adequate.Read more here.
Should you invest in a short-term rental property?
Investing in a short-term rental property can be a way to purchase an investment property or potential holiday home and diversify your investment portfolio.
Have you considered this as an investment option?
Do you have a plan for bushfires?
The elements aren’t always kind to us when it comes to our homes and investment properties and as the weather warms up and there are heightened risks with the potential for bushfires, it is important to ensure that you have a maintenance plan for your property.
