Doug (& wife Jan) worked together as sales consultants in the Paraparaumu branch of Harcourts since 2003. Jan has now decided to take a step back and concentrate on a supporting role so is now acting as Doug’s PA while pursuing other interests. They have been married for 14 years and have been one of the most successful partnerships operating on the Kapiti Coast. Doug & Jan go the extra mile in assisting owners present their property for sale. They have been known to mow lawns, weed eat, water blast houses and decks, declutter and make trips to the dump
Doug Unquestionably Doug is one of the most prolific and most successful auction listing agent operating in the Paraparaumu / Raumati area. Last year he sold all but 1 of his many auctions on the auction day. Doug has been one of the top performing agents for the Paraparaumu office for many years. He is proud to represent Harcourts (New Zealand's most trusted real estate brand for the last 10years as polled by Readers Digest). Harcourts has been assisting New Zealanders with real estate since 1888.
Doug has lived on The Esplanade in Raumati South for 37 years and is passionate about the Kapiti Area and Raumati South in particular. He is seen most days walking his two little bichons on the Raumati South Beach or one of the many Queen Elizabeth Park tracks.
Doug is a keen walker having completed the 24 Km as part of the Taupo Ultra Marathon in 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020. He was due to walk it again in 2021 but due to Covid it was cancelled. .He will be back again in 2022. In 2019 after his wife Jan was diagnosed with bowel cancer he walked in the “Walking Stars” half marathon for the Cancer Society. The aim was to raise as much money as possible. Doug was the highest individual fundraiser out of more than 700 entrants, raising just on $4500 in just 3 days. Last June he joined the “Moving Your Butt” campaign to raise funds for the Bowel Cancer NZ. He walked 260km in June including the Escarpment both ways on same day. He has completed the walk and so far raised $3000

Doug has two sons, William and Sam, and 5 grandchildren. He previously came from a teaching background having taught mathematics for 18 years at Kapiti College. In that time he was the producer of 9 musicals for the college and coached the first fifteen for a number of years. During the 36 years he has lived in Kapiti he has been involved in Paraparaumu Junior Rugby, the administration of the Kapiti Club –(now Club Vista-he was the President for 9 years and had life membership bestowed on him in 2012). When time permits he is an enthusiastic member of the Kapiti Playhouse and has played the Dame in many pantomimes and played many other leading roles.

Doug organizes and is the auctioneer for the Mary Potter “Fish Auction” in association with the North Island Spear Fishing Contest and has raised over $75,000 for this amazing organization. His recent charity fundraisers include the Breast Cancer Brunch, Eastern Hutt Rotary Club's Golf Tournament for Te Omanga Hospice, The Ernst & Young Charity Auction, , Kapiti College Performing Arts Centre to name a few. He willingly offers his services for those who wish to take advantage of his auctioneering skills.

MARY POTTER HOSPICE.
Doug has been the main organiser of the annual “Mary Potter Fish Auction” that is held in conjunction with the North Island Spear Fishing Competition. Doug has been the auctioneer which to date has raised more than $75,000 towards this great cause. They are involved in other forms of fundraising for Mary Potter including street appeals, strawberry festival and fund raising events in conjunction with the Kapiti Club (now Club Vista).
• Doug walked 24 km in 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020 as part of the Taupo Ultra Marathon to create awareness of an unheralded charity called Whirlwind and raise money by getting sponsors for the walk. He entered again for the 2021 event unfortunately Covid was the winner on the day and it has been postponed. He has now signed up for the 2022.

For the last 3 years Doug has challenged himself to walking the Escarpment (between Pukerua Bay & Paekakariki) both ways. Ie one after the other. He has succeeded and so far raised about over $5000 for Bowel Cancer NZ. Walking the Escarpment both ways is tough but raising awareness that early detection saves lives is so important.
• Jan has just recently created a fund raiser for Bowel Cancer NZ by knitting and selling “Snoods” so far raised nearly $3000

Jan has been a member of the Eastern Hutt Rotary Club for 25 years and was president for 2020 to 2021. She has been involved in many community projects.

Jan has delivered meals on wheels for more than 12 years.
• KAPITI CLUB -Now Club Vista Doug was a committee member for 16 years with 9 years as President. Life membership was bestowed on him 2012. Doug & Jan have been sponsors for 17 years.
• CHARITY AUCTIONEER.
Doug has assisted numerous charities and schools with Charity Auctions and is readily available for those who need his expertise. His recent successes include raising funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation, Arthritis Foundation, Te Omanga Hospice, Paraparaumu Beach Kindergarten, Mary Potter, Kapiti Performing Arts Centre, Ernst & Young Charity Trust, and many, many more.
